If your business has grown to the point that you now require multiple phone lines, you face a choice of voice solutions, namely ISDN or VoIP/ SIP Trunking?
Historically, multiple telephone lines required an ISDN connection to your office, which was then hooked into a phone system (known as a PBX) to route calls around your office. Modern telecoms technology has provided an alternative in the form of SIP Trunking – a method for routing VoIP calls over the Internet, generally through a hosted service which acts like the traditional PBX.
We think you should choose a VoIP system because it’s:
1. Cheaper
No matter which way you look at it, VoIP and SIP trunking solutions are always cheaper than an ISDN equivalent. Line rental, telecoms hardware and call costs are all lower using VoIP.
2. More resilient
If the broadband goes down at your office, simply take your VoIP handset home and plug it into the router there to resume normal operations. ISDN system users must wait until service is restored on-site.
3. Using what you already have
Your business already has a broadband connection which your VoIP system can piggyback, giving you even more value from your line. Even if you reach capacity, adding a second broadband line is still cheaper than expanding your ISDN capabilities.
